Shameless: Time to Say Goodbye?

Image result for shameless season 9

Is it time for Shameless to end? Every week after a new episode I find myself thinking it should more and more. The show has not been good or even decent for the last few seasons. The characters are becoming more one dimensional plus I believe that they are getting too old to be acting the way they do. Many of the fan-favorite characters have left the show leaving more screen time to unbearable characters such as Debbie. Also, I feel as if the writers are just throwing plot points to the wall to see if they stick.

Remember we had to see Fiona being the mother of her young siblings where they were all trying to make ends meet every day? Those days are long gone. I loved seeing Fiona trying to teach and raise her siblings while dealing with her personal struggles. It was endearing considering they were all young kids at the time, even Fiona. These kids are all grown up now with Liam being the youngest at what I believe is ten years old. Yet, these kids are still a mess and are still being treated and still acting like babies. The best part about the show was the dynamic between the kids, the world they lived in, and each other with somewhat real and powerful storylines. Yes, those storylines may have had a fictional or outrageous twist in them, but it still conveyed the facts of life to the viewers. We have not seen that in years.

Fiona's "drunken and crazy storyline" has been absolutely awful. Such a horrible storyline for her last season as a main character.

We now see Fiona acting like a complete nut. Mind you she is almost thirty, and I know people still have problems in their thirties, but Fiona was always portrayed as a strong, female character. This current season is her last season, and I absolutely hate the storyline that they are giving her. She loses her business and her boyfriend cheats on her so she goes insane and has lately become an alcoholic. Now, that storyline may change soon, but has Fiona not learned from her life that her current decisions are wrong? That they affect her siblings? The writing for her character is so lazy, and I feel so bad for Emmy Rossum.

Remember Sheila and how awesome and such a ridiculous character she was? Her storyline with Frank was hilarious, but no she had to be the one that left the show. Remember the Gallagher's mother's bipolar disorder to where Ian had it as well, and the audience could really feel the siblings' pain towards him? Now Ian is not even on the show anymore and don't get me started with that "Gay Jesus" storyline. Remember how hysterical Carl's prison storyline was with Sammi Sloot's son was? Now we have Carl with a random crazy girl (no, not the drug addict girl) he met that none of the audience cares about. I don't know. These storylines suck now. Why can't the producers go back to their roots with these people? I really do believe the storytelling was better earlier in the show because the kids were actually young and more interesting to follow.

Also, I feel like William H. Macy really wants out of this show. They're just making up storylines for him as he goes. He wants to be with a crazy woman and the crazy woman wants to have babies, so Frank uses his son's sperm to combine with her eggs?! What is going on? I was always intrigued with Frank's character. He was always a despicable human being, but I always enjoyed his shenanigans. His character, though has just been so strange. I do not have an opinion on him anymore and that is really not a good thing especially for the "main character of the show".

We're just going to skip Debbie because at this point I feel like the producers and writers are so oblivious to the fact that Debbie is universally hated by the Shameless fan base. Get her off my screen, please and thank you.

Ok. After writing this review, I am actually more angry at the show, and I have made up my mind. Pull the plug on it now, Showtime. It is absolutely horrid television with weak and annoying characters and just bad storytelling. What do you think about the show? Is it time for it to be pulled? Let me know what you think.

The Good Place: Season 3 Finale Review

After a season of time travel, Jeremy Bearimys, and Janet's voids, the third season of The Good Place concluded last night. Though I thought the previous two seasons of the show were a bit stronger than this one, I still really enjoyed this season. The season finale really made me excited to see what next season has in store!

The episode starts off from where we ended last week. Michael is having a panic attack due to Shawn's manipulating of the experiment. I love the cut of the scene where Eleanor tells Michael that he can do this to where the next scene shows Eleanor having to welcome the new member because Michael actually could not do it. That was very funny! It turns out that the new member of the Good Place was a columnist who used to write about Tahani. It is revealed that the recently deceased members Shawn chose for the experiment were people who had interacted with Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani, and Jason. I loved that little twist. The show always manages to throw me off, and I really appreciate it for that. (Side note: I loved when Tahani went to Michael to reveal the truth to him, and she said "It's me, Tahani". God the show is so goofy, but in a good way).

The other three immediately know that something is up, so when they go out to the waiting room, they see that Simone is also a subject. Luckily, Michael is able to erase her memory, but Chidi understandably and selflessly realizes that knowing her could tamper with the experiment, so he volunteers to have his memory taken away. Chidi has grown so much in this show. He has gotten braver and less wishy-washy as the series has progressed. It's great character development! Eleanor, of course, is upset that Chidi will forget her and their newly-formed romantic relationship, and it was actually upsetting to watch. Was it the saddest scene in the television history? No, not at all, but I do not think the writers intended it to be.

Before Chidi's memory is released, Michael shows Eleanor and Chidi a montage of their moments together. It was nice to take a trip down memory lane with many scenes being projected from the first two seasons. I love when shows do those types of episodes! I really thought Janet or Michael would find a solution at the last second, but as Michael points out: That would be very stereotypical. The show is so self-aware! I love it!

The episode ends with Janet and Eleanor having a heart to heart about love to where Eleanor, still "disguised" as the Good Place's architect meets a newly-rebooted Chidi and welcomes him into the Good Place. It should be interesting to see how their dynamic is in season four. I believe she will convince him that they once knew and loved each other. Gosh, these reboots have been numerous this season, but I actually have not minded them. They make the plot go by faster, and it works for this type of goofy show.

All in all this season was amazing and had so many funny moments and episodes such as the fight scene between the demons from the Bad Place and Janet. The episode "Janet(s)" was probably one of if not the best episodes of the show. I still do not know why D'Arcy Carden has not been nominated for an Emmy yet. She is by far the heart and soul of the whole show. I am very excited to see what season four has in store for the fans! I cannot wait! What did you think of this season and this episode? Leave a comment!

Schitt's Creek: Not So Schitty

A couple of days ago, I finished binge-watching Schitt's Creek because I have no life. The show made me burst out with laughter within' the first episode. Oh my God, this show is incredible! The cast, the writing, the setting, everything is so fun! I thought I would give my overall opinions on each member of the Rose family since they are the main characters of the television show.

Eugene Levy's performance as Johnny Rose provides a great leader to the fictional Rose family. I appreciate how Levy is over seventy and yet, still is in the loop about current day humor and trends. His one liners displayed in the show really show how relatable his character is since his family around him are complete nutcases. Also, I loved how his work relationship with Stevie grows as the series progresses. Johnny's character arc is interesting in that at first he was embarrassed to live in Schitt's Creek, but over time he begins to love and accept his home town and begins to want to do generous deeds for it.

Catherine O'Hara as Moira Rose gives in my opinion what should be an Emmy-nominated performance. O'Hara is a comedic legend and it shows in this and in that one episode stint she did in Curb You Enthusiasm. Moira's character is completely delusional, but at the same time she is actually aware of her delusion at certain points throughout the season. The one episode that stands out to me about her character is the episode where she joins the JazzaGals and she thinks she will be the standout, but she tries to leave before her audition due to many people being a lot better than her. Also, he fake accent she puts on always had me pissing my pants.

Annie Murphy as Alexis Rose is the stereotypical rich, "I'm better than you" girl, but she is so charming when she does it. At first, I was annoyed with her character, but that is just who Alexis is. Over the series, Alexis starts to find out who she is, and she actually starts to give a crap about her future. I would say out of all the Roses', Alexis is my least favorite, but I still really like her character, and I enjoy how oblivious it is to be "poor" in the beginning of the series.

Dan Levy as David Rose is definitely the standout character of the series. I will tell you right now that David Rose is in my list of top ten favorite television characters. I honestly probably would not watch the series if David was not on it. His snarky attitude and sharp wit had me laughing by far the most by any other character on the show. From the second he started yelling at his sister because he wanted the bed she claimed, I was on the ground dying laughing. Dan Levy also revealed in an interview that most of his lines are improve. Pure genius! I also really love how his family just accepts him for who he is rather than being awkward with his dating life. The show really show an astounding depiction of love and acceptance between him and his family.

If you are looking for something to binge-watch, I would recommend Schitt's Creek. It's on Netflix, so I am sure you all can access it! It has been so underappreciated for the longest time, but now I believe people are starting to hop on the bandwagon. It is definitely one of the best comedies I have seen in a long time, so I think you all should give the show a chance! I don't think you will regret it!

Celebrity Big Brother 2: Episode 1 Review and Predictions

Hello Big Brother fans! We're back for another season! Let's pray for another great season after Celebrity Big Brother 1 and Big Brother 20 being a return to form for the franchise! The season premiere of Celebrity Big Brother 2 just debuted on CBS, and I have got to say that it was a decent episode. I think the cast is pretty above average, and it seems that most of them are there to play which I can appreciate. I'm going to give you my first impressions of the cast and how well I think they will do.

Image result for celebrity big brother 2
1. Kato Kaelin- I liked Kato during this episode. He had some fun moments and some quick remarks about the O.J. trial. I think he'll go far. Will he be a power player? I do not think so. I feel like he'll float from HOH to HOH and he'll never really stab people in the back, but we'll see. I think it was good for him to safe tonight. This way he can start creating relationships and get his foot in the door to build alliances.

2. Dina Lohan- I think she'll either go home very early or she will be dragged along as a goat. I can't see her making big power moves, but hey I thought Ariadna last season would be like that, but she had game! Dina did absolutely horrible in the HOH competition tonight, though. Dear God that was a mess.

3. Lolo Jones- I honestly think she will be this season's Shannon Elizabeth. I mean tonight she was really trying to win HOH which isn't a bad thing, but she was making it obvious. I have heard rumblings that many people in the house are starting to get annoyed by her, but who knows. Things change very quickly in the Big Brother house.

4. Ricky Williams- Was he even on the show tonight? Oh yea, he talked about weed a lot, which is cool I guess, but as far as gameplay, I believe he will be a coaster. Yes, a coaster. Someone that does nothing in the game and latches onto power players. I do not see him being strategic, but maybe his social game will carry him far. I can see him going at Final 5.

5. Tamar Braxton- This season's Omarosa and by that I mean this season's meme queen. She has like 5 memes from this episode already! That grape eating scene had me dying! As far as gameplay is concerned, I am really excited to see Tamar. She has been watching since season 1, so I hope she is smart enough to lay low when she needs to and to be a power player when she needs to. I have high hopes for you, Tamar! I'll ignore your HOH performance tonight!

6. Anthony Scaramucci- Another political person enters the house. I actually think he will do well. I can see him making big moves if he wins HOH. The news headlines should once again be interesting considering the time he spent in the White House. Anthony seems cool. I have high hopes for him.

7. Joey Lawrence- I absolutely hated him in the preseason interviews. He just seems like the kind of guy who thinks he's better than people. During the live feed sneak peeks, he has complained about the condition of the house. Why did you go on the show, then? As far as game is concerned, I think he'll be liked in the house, and I can see him being a competition threat. I would get him out as soon as possible.

8. Natalie Eva Marie- That snide comment she made to Kato while they were watching the HOH competition was so stupid. Hello? Do you want to make an enemy on night one? Ridiculous. Like Kato, I think it is good to be safe the first eviction. She can take this time to create bonds and build alliances. I can see her being in the final three, which is very good!

9. Kandi Burruss- Her and Tamar's rivalry should be manipulated to where her and Tamar should have a secret alliance. That would be smart. I think she'll do quite well. I can see her planting seeds of doubt between people, so I would love that. I can even see her being the final two! Like Tamar I will forgive her for her atrocious HOH performance tonight!

10. Ryan Lochte- I will guarantee right now that he gets to the final 2. His comment about Jonathan being involved with cupcakes, so he must be smart was hilarious and sad at the same time. I hope he tries for the HOH competition against Jonathan and wins to be honest. If he can play up his dumb persona like Tyler did last season, he will get far mark my words.

11. Tom Green- His diary rooms are going to be gold! As far as game is concerned, I am going to predict that Tom will win this season. As long as he does not get on people's nerves, he will be a massive social threat. He also REALLY wants to win this game. I can see the look on his face. I feel like we're going to hear a lot of ball jokes, though which is sort of depressing, but at least he can make fun of the issue! Also, I thought he did a good job at the HOH competition tonight!

12. Jonathan Bennett- Ok. I have a lot of opinions on him. First, I hope he loses the HOH and gets put on the block and sent out the door. He is going to be obnoxious; I can already feel it. He has Frankie Grande famewhore written all over his face. He also got advice from Marissa Jaret Winokur who mistakenly won last season, so I assume he'll do nothing for a lot of the season and win on a fluke? Who knows? I also assume we'll be hearing many more Mean Girls jokes, but since I am in love with the movie, I'll let it slide. My opinions change all the time on these houseguests, so we'll have to see if my feelings change about him.

Side note: This HOH competition tonight was teased by Allison Grodner, the executive producer, to be new, but this is from BB16. I hope this is not an indication that this season will be bad. Sorry, but BB16 was such a monstrosity of a season.

Grey's Anatomy: Shelter from the Storm Review

Grey's Anatomy returned last night after a long winter hiatus, and I have got to say, I actually somewhat enjoyed the episode. It felt like an older episode of the show, so I was invested in the episode for pretty much the entire time.

Image result for shelter from the storm grey's

The episode picks up from right where we left off. The storm has caused the power in the hospital to go out and coincidentally six of our main characters are stuck in three separate elevators. Meredith and Deluca are stuck together, and I kind of like that coupling? I actually want to see them get together. Yea Deluca is like fifteen years younger than Meredith, but I have always liked his character despite him never really having a storyline of his own. Amelia, Owen, and Teddy are also stuck together to where Teddy announces that she is pregnant with Owen's baby. Amelia being Amelia of course has a mini freak out moment, and I guess I would, too. I liked that Amelia supported Owen at the end of the episode. That was nice of her, but God they have broken up 452 times now. I am kind of over them as a couple, and I really hope they just never get back together. It clearly is not meant to be. The third elevator has Bailey and one of the interns who I really do not care about. Bailey and the intern start to panic to where I thought Bailey was having an OCD attack, again. Maybe she was. Maybe she wasn't. I don't know. I think she was worried about Ben. I can't relate considering Ben left the show and joined the flop Station 19. Whatever.

Miranda and the intern are saved by Jackson, who finally shows use of himself in this episode. (Sorry ya'll I just really hate Jackson. His character has always been pointless and whiny.) The man with Jackson, played by Will Sasso (remember him from vine?) is saving Bailey and the intern when the elevator crushes his legs to which the scene reminded me of Final Destination 2. hat was actually a bloody scene. Good for you ABC.

There are some random surgeries that I couldn't give a crap about because I do not remember any of the patients with the exception of CeCe, who to be quite honest has stayed past her welcome. Cece receives her organs to which it seems she accepts them, but then her body begins to reject them and then she dies. It was actually a little bit sad not because she died but because of the reactions of the doctors who really admired her dating advice. Their reaction made me hurt a bit.

Also in the episode Richard runs around the hospital and finds Betty, Owen and Amelia's "adoptive child" going through withdrawal and trying to find drugs. I really admired Richard for telling Amelia and Owen that she was using again. Richard has been amazing this season with his damaging the bar scene that occurred before the mid-season finale. He is an incredible actor. I would probably consider him the heart of the show now. Amelia seems to send Betty off the rehab which I am here for because I also think she has stayed past her welcome on the show.

I really liked the end scene of Meredith dissing her two admirers. I actually do not mind these two guys. They are characters I give a shit about, so that is refreshing. It will interesting to see who she chooses between them or if she chooses any at all.

I am looking forward to the rest of the season. I really want to know Richard's reaction to finding out that Catherine has cancer, and I am interested in the new storylines that are coming up. The first half of the season was easily one of the worst viewings of the show I have ever seen, but it seems the point has shifted, and we may have some intriguing storylines come into play.

Thank you for reading my review of the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy. What did you think of the episode? Leave a comment

Recent Television News

Hello all! I am sorry for being away for a while. I wanted to just take a break for the holiday season, and school just started so I have been settling in. I will be posting more content since a lot of my shows are starting to come back on. This has been a very big week for television with many things being revealed to us. Though I do not watch many of the shows that will be mentioned in this blog, I do know that some of my readers watch certain ones. So without further ado, let us get to some news.

First I would like to blow all of your minds by saying that today is the 15th anniversary of the premiere of Drake and Josh. Let that sink in. Feel old yet?

In Breaking News, The Walking Dead has been renewed for a 10th season that is most likely set to air in October. I am happy about this considering this season has been a breath of life in comparison to the recent seasons.

Criminal Minds has been renewed for a 15th and final season. The season will consist of ten episodes. Fans were both sad and happy mainly for the fact that the show will receive a proper ending. I never really got into the show, but what an accomplishment for a show to last that long. Congrats to the cast, producers, and fans!

Image result for brooklyn nine nine
After the shocking cancellation of beloved show Brooklyn Nine-Nine by Fox last year, the show premiered last night on NBC with over 3.5 million viewers, the most watched episode in two seasons. Congrats to the fans who made sure their show did not go anywhere. I am very happy for you.

New streaming shows that released on Friday (today) include Netflix's Sex Education and Friends from College season two. Hulu also released the second season of Future Man. I have not seen any of these shows, but you never know. I may watch them in the future!

Critically-acclaimed actor Al Pacino is set to star in Jordan Peele's The Hunt. The show is based on a true story of Nazi hunters who track down Nazi war criminals in the United States. The show is set to premiere on Amazon, so anyone who is interested, get ready!

The CW released their spring premiere dates for their television shows! Jane the Virgin- The Final Season will premiere on March 27th, The 100 will premiere on April 30th, iZombie- The Final Season will premiere on May 2nd, Legends of Tomorrow will premiere on April 1st, and finally fan-favorite Arrow will premiere on April 15th. I am not the biggest fan of the CW, but it is a widely popular channel with many fans, so I cannot judge!

On Sunday January 13th, the third season of True Detective returns after a long hiatus. The third season takes place in the Ozarks as two children disappear. I am very excited for the new season to start. I watched the first season earlier this year, and I was enamored by it. I did not bother watching season two because I heard it was garbage. So far I have heard mostly positive reviews about the third season, so fingers crossed. Also, I have heard that the premiere date for the final season of Game of Thrones will be announced sometime before or after the True Detective premiere, so keep a look out!

Image result for celebrity big brother 2
For all of you Big Brother fans out there, the second season's cast of the celebrity edition will be announced on Sunday. I have heard rumblings of Joey Lawrence and Tiffany "New York" Pollard being on, so that should be fun! Hopefully the season will be as great as the first season's (with less quitters).

Before I end my post, I watched the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, and I was mainly rolling my eyes or yawning, but congratulations to Sandra Oh on her win for her portrayal as Eve on Killing Eve. She is absolutely amazing in that show, and I cannot wait for season two. Also congrats to Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for their win for their song "Shallow" from A Star is Born. I have yet to watch the movie, but I have been a fan of the song ever since it came out! One more congrats I have to give is to Darren Criss as real-life serial killer Andrew Cunanan in Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. Criss did an impeccable job, and he deserves all of the accolades. If you have not watched the series yet, I highly recommend it!

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I cannot wait for the new year. Here is to 2019! Hope it's a good one for everybody!
